Tahoe 2007

Well, we just got back from Lake Tahoe. I was invited to speak at a conference about multiple sclerosis, as that is what my current research pertains too. I am actually doing research in anyone thought I was just going to slack this year. The above picture is from a cocktail cruise we went on 9/15 at dusk. The conference is sponsored by Oregon Health Sciences University with some help from TEVA neuroscience, a company responsible for medications for MS.
We were well taken care of. We stayed at a resort just outside of Squaw Valley.
We were able to golf 18 holes one day on one of the hardest courses known to man. The fairways were narrow. We would land in the rough and in the process of looking for our ball, would find 3 others. That is the only way we could keep playing really. Above is the best shot of the day. I tee'd off with a 7 wood from the white tees with the boys. I nailed 180 yards right onto the green, and made par. Not bad for a pregnant lady.
We also went on a guided fly fishing trip. There was no love from the fishies, but Rob and I learned a lot of useful techniques. I looked hot in waders.
This picture was taken just off the tram at the top of squaw valley, about 8000 feet. Our group had a private dinner that overlooked the resort and the lake.
Rob brought his road bike with us. He road all the way around the lake on 9/14 by himself. He was the star of the trip as far as ambitious outings, that is until we met up with Ed Viesturs. He went fly fishing with us then gave a keynote speech to our group. He is one of five people in history to climb all 14 peaks with summits above 8000 meters (26,000 feet)without oxygen. We are talking about Everest, K2, Anapurna etc. Look him up, he is a stud.

All of this for a 15 minute presentation on saturday. nice!

Wow...looks like a great time in Tahoe. Could you see the burned areas? I am amazed how not pregnant you look.

Lovely time. Isn't Tahoe so spectacular?

Ed Viesturs (sp?)? Dude.

Ditto on Mary. Are you sure your roasting a bun in there?
